Hi Everyone!!!      GREAT NEWS TODAY!!! Dr. Prizker presented my case to the transplant committee today and they all agreed that they would place me on the transplant list.  Once insurance approves the tranplant then I will be on the list (probably with in a few weeks).  We also found out that I have a very rare blood type AB and no weird antigens.  AB is the universal accepter and I would be the only one on the list from the U of MN with that blood type.  We were told by three different doctors that my wait on the list would be very short because of this.  Like maybe a few months as opposed to up to a year.  My blood type, my size, and the fact that I am not living in the hospital will all lessen my wait for a new heart.    The surgen told us that the surgery would take less time than normal because I have not had open heart surgery before.    All this new is of course over whelming right now.  I had in my mind that my wait would be longer.  The thought of maybe being some what recovered by the end of the summer is outragious.  The fact that I could run, swim, roller blade, hike, etc. is all so amazing to me.     Time for pjs and bed.  Long day for me and tons to think about.  Talk to you all soon!

About marialegatt

I am a 33 year old girl (I say girl because I act and look young all the time) who has had heart disease her whole life. In the last few years I have had severe congestive heart failure and in August of this year recieved a heart transplant. This is my journey to be girl/woman who I could never have been before. I plan to set outstanding goals and achievements and hope people support me along the way good or bad.
