Hello all!!   Thank you for all the awesome messages!!! It is so fun and encouraging to read.  Today was another full day, well it felt full.  I had cardio rehab in the morning then off to the U of MN for more testing.  I was able to make it to the heart transplant support group where several survivors told stories etc.  We also found out that several people have had heart transplants with other autoimmune disease like sarcordiosis.  That is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks its own organs (heart and lungs) and creates scar tissue.  They said that they have had no issue with extra rejection because of their autoimmune disease and in fact their disease was supressed because of the drugs for transplant!! This is great news!!  We also talked about the length of time that people have had to wait and all signs point to my wait not being very long on the list.  I am small, have a common blood type, and I am not too sick.   Looks like I will be back to work next Thursday.  But I will still have two days off a week for cardio rehab and rest.
Off to rest for a bit and then head to a Go Red for Women meeting.

About marialegatt

I am a 33 year old girl (I say girl because I act and look young all the time) who has had heart disease her whole life. In the last few years I have had severe congestive heart failure and in August of this year recieved a heart transplant. This is my journey to be girl/woman who I could never have been before. I plan to set outstanding goals and achievements and hope people support me along the way good or bad.
