ITS MARIA HERE!
Well better news (in some aspects) to report. I was able to walk down the hall a bit this afternoon which was the most I have done since I got here. When I got back I did feel sick and tired but it was worth getting out of my room. This afternoon Dane and I rested and rested (I didn’t sleep) but it was needed because my numbers are getting better! The transplant nurse and social worker came by and helped me through some crying times, but they keep reminding me that I could get a call at any minute so I might not have to wait in ICU like this for long. There is discussion of upping my medication more and changing me to a 1A status which is the highest on the list!. But it all depends on how I am doing in the next few days.
I requested to move to a different room so I could see the sky and trees and that makes a ton of difference (I was staring at a brick wall and didn’t know if it was day or night before). They washed my hair last night and had fresh change of bedding and cloths which feels good. The food is actually not bad at all here and I can order breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast (as long as it is low sodium)!
Tomorrow my mom and Roger are coming down for the day. In talking with the nurses and my docs we think it is best that people check in with Dane or me before visiting. Just until I am more stable and have more energy.
Ok I am going to try to finish my dinner and fall asleep. More updates to come.
